丽江是很有名的旅游胜地，有很多的人文和自然景观，丽江是一个几乎闻名全国的地方，丽江的古城在县城内，而束河古镇在丽江县城北边，几乎城边的位置，很近。束河古镇似乎没有丽江古城那样精致，却也少一点点拥挤，相比拥挤热闹的丽江古城（四方街）束河古镇更休闲一些，个人感觉上这里没有那么吵闹，而且大多住宿条件也比古城好一些。事实上束河古镇离玉龙雪山更近，不过在这里眺望雪山往往要到房顶的平台上，不象丽江古城那样抬头可见。
