Bernau in the Black Forest is a valley between 800 and 1415 metres above sea level with a population of about 1900. The 8 kilometre long municipality is subdivided into Altenrond, Bernau-Dorf mit Goldbach, Bernau-Hof, Bernau-Innerlehen, Bernau-Riggenbach mit Schwendele, Gaß, Kaiserhaus, Oberlehen und Unterlehen.

Bernau-Hof is at the base of the 1415 metres high Herzogenhorn, the second highest mountain in the Black Forest. The climatic health and winter ski resort is a well renowned playground for skiers, hikers, mountain bikers, paragliders, and holds an annual sledge dog race. Bernau is the birthplace of the famous painter Hans Thoma and has a permanent exhibition of the artist.

Germany? Before the beginning there was Ginnungagap, an empty space of nothingness, filled with pure creative power. (Sort of like the inside of my head.)And it ends with Ragnarok, the twilight of the Gods. In between is much fighting, betrayal and romance. Hail Freya, hail Tyr, hail Thor!Odin made the many lakes and the fish in them. In his traverses across the lands he caused there to be the Mulheim Bridge in Cologne, as did he make the Mercury fountain, Mercury being of his nature.But it is to the mighty Thor that the Hammering Man gives service.Between the time of the Nordic old ones and that of modern Frankfort there may have been a T.Rex or two on the scene.
