南华寺
坐落于广东省韶关市，曲江县马坝东南7公里的曹溪之畔，距离韶关市南约22公里，这里依山面水，峰峦奇秀。
南华寺是中国佛教名寺之一，是禅宗六祖慧能宏扬“南宗禅法”的发源地。
南华寺始建于南北朝梁武帝天监元年（公元502年）。
据史料记载，是年印度高僧智乐三藏自广州北上，途经曹溪，“掬水饮之，香味异常”，“四顾群山，峰恋奇秀”，“宛如西天宝林山地”遂建议在此建寺。
天监三年，寺庙建成，梁武帝赐“宝林寺”名。后又先后更名为“中兴寺”、“法泉寺”、至宋开宝元年（公元968年），宋太宗敕赐“南华禅寺”，寺名乃沿袭至今。因禅宗六祖在此弘法，也称六祖道场。
南华寺距今已近一千五百年的历史，寺后有桌锡泉(俗称九龙泉)，几株高达数十米的古老水松，是现在世界上稀有的树木，寺庙现存大量珍贵文物，为全国重点文物保护单位之一.
南华寺建筑面积一万二千多平方米，由曹溪门、放生池、宝林门、天王殿、大雄宝殿、藏经阁、灵照塔、六祖殿等建筑群组成。现有建筑除灵照塔、六祖殿外，都是1934年后虚云和尚募化重修的。
1983年，南华寺最早一批被国务院定为国家重点寺院。
2001年06月25日，南华寺作为明、清时期古建筑，被国务院批准列入第五批全国重点文物保护单位名单。
南华寺是写下千古绝句“菩提本无树，明镜亦非台，本来无一物，何处惹尘埃”的佛教禅宗六祖慧能弘扬“南宗禅法”的发祥地，六祖慧能在此传授佛法37年，法眼宗远传世界各地，因而南华寺有“祖庭”之称。
