The "Karlstädter Spitalkirche St. Jakobus” in the near of the "Cat Tower" was built in 1438th. In 1612, the church belonged to the "Pfründnerspital" for poor and needy people. At that time the church was given its present form: The bell tower, the Renaissance portal, the Gothic windows, the wall paintings.
