唐继尧字蓂赓,汉族,云南会泽人,1883年出生于一个书香家庭。1904年赴日留学,入东京振武学校第六期。1905年秋加入同盟会。1908年毕业于日本士官学校。次年回国。1909年返云南,在讲武堂担任教官及从事革命活动。辛亥革命爆发后,参加蔡锷指挥的昆明重九起义。1915年12月25日,蔡锷、唐继尧联名通电全国,宣布云南独立,发起推翻袁世凯的“护国起义”掀起“护国运动”。1927年2月6日唐继尧交出政权下野。1927年5月23日,44岁的唐继尧气病成疾吐血丧命,葬于昆明园通山。
