Containing more than 275,000 square feet of usable floor area and 45 acres of land, the new Lakam Center / Cancun – Riviera Maya is a state-of-the-art exhibition, congress and corporate events center which ranks among the largest in Latin America. The facility is one of few venues in Mexico suited to host large-scale, high-impact events such as the 2011 United Nations Global Warming Conference (COP 16) and the forthcoming 2014 Tianguis Mexico.
The owners have invested more than US$ 25 MM in land and facility development since their purchase of the greenfield site in early 2008. The best engineers, architects and construction companies in Mexico and the US have gone to great lengths to produce a first-class venue which implements the highest standards of efficient, secure design; along with extensive electrical, water, storm drainage and fire protection infrastructure. All of which enables the center to accommodate multiple types of events and very flexible use of the space. Lakam offers the intimacy to comfortably accommodate events organized for hundreds of attendees, as well as the scale to host much larger gatherings of 15,000 people or more.
