Leiria, Castle, Bell tower
Portugal

Bell Tower, access door to the primitive fortified enclosure, in a pentagonal shape and with Romanesque arches and staves containing orbicular or templar cruciform signs. In the 13th century it was adapted as a bell tower of the neighboring Church of Santa Maria da Pena, when new windows were opened in Gothic style. It was also called, in medieval times, as Torre da Buçaqueira, which may indicate that the falcons used by royalty in their hunts would shelter.
