Leiria, Museum, Convent of Santo Agostinho, cloister
Portugal

Religious complex, classified as a monument of public interest, with Mannerist and Baroque features.

Between 1577 and 1579, shortly after the elevation of Leiria to the city and the diocese (1545), the construction of the Church and Convent of Eremitas Agostinhos began, on the initiative of Bishop D. Frei Gaspar do Casal. Next to it is the first diocesan seminary (1671-1672).

After 1834, it hosted Army barracks. The convent space currently houses the Leiria Museum, opened in 2015.
