Il Castello del Boccale si trova a Livorno, sud del quartiere di Antignano, lungo la strada per Quercianella, a poca distanza dalla Torre di Calafuria e dal Castello Sonnino. Il castello non è visitabile e risale alla seconda metà dell’Ottocento, quando fu costruito sopra una torre medicea del 1595. Era una delle tante torri di avvistamento che presidiavano la costa in un complesso sistema di difesa. Ciascuna, in diretto collegamento visivo con la vicina, era deputata alla segnalazione dei pericoli che sopraggiungevano dal mare.
