The coast strip called Via del Sale
(Salt Road) is situated in front of the Isle of Motya and Egadi Islands.
Ettore and Infersa salt pits, a family business, produce whole salt rich in iodine, fluorine, magnesium, and potassium.
The salt gathering is carried on from June to September and the salt is arranged in small heaps. Then the winter comes when these heaps are protected by layers of roof tiles until the spring, when the salt preparation begins.
The landscape is dominated by a windmill of the 16th century, whose gears have recently been completely restored.

To have seen Italy without having seen Sicily is not to have seen Italy at all, for Sicily is the clue to everything.
