Szekler Martyrs Monument (Székely Vértanúk Emlékmű), Târgu Mureș
Targu Mures

This was shot in early spring in Târgu Mureș at the Szekler Martyrs Monument.

The obelisk was established to commemorate the executed szekler people who took part in the uprising against the Habsburg empire in 1848-1849. It was unveiled on the 27th of June 1875.

Marosvásárhely / Târgu Mureş lies at the junction of three geographical regions (Mezőség / Câmpia Transilvaniei, Maros Valley and Nyárádmente) at about 220 meters above sea level. The city extends onto both banks of the Maros / Mures river, however, the downtown area and the greater part of the districts are located on the left bank.
