黒斑山への途中にあるトーミの頭は、浅間山の外輪山の連なりからせり出した岩峰となっていて見晴らしが良い。

正面に蒸気を立ち上らせる浅間山を望むと、眼下は切れ落ちた絶壁となっていて、はるか下の方に湯の平がひろがっている。北方には黒斑山、蛇骨岳、仙人岳、鋸岳と浅間山の外輪山が絶壁となって連なっていて圧巻だ。西~南には剣が峰・牙山、佐久・上田の市街地が望め、風の穏やかな日には雲海が見られる事も多い。

The eight islands of Japan sprang into existence through Divine Intervention.The first two gods who came into existence were Izanagi no Mikoto and Izanami no Mikoto, the Exalted Male and Exalted Female. It was their job to make the land for people to live on.They went to the bridge between heaven and earth and, using a jewel-encrusted halberd, Izanagi and Izanami churned up the sea into a frothy foam. As salty drips of water fell from the tip of the halberd the first island was formed. Its name was Onogoro.So far, so good. But when Izanagi and Izanami first met on their island, Izanami spoke to Isanagi without being spoken to first.
