National Palace of Queluz, Chapel
Due to its prominent position in the finishing of the facade of the Palace facing the street, it was one of the first built spaces. The influence of Mafra is visible in the use of a bulb-shaped cupola on its cover, Mateus Vicente was a disciple and collaborator of the main Architect of Mafra Frederico Ludovice. The interior gilded carving of Faria Logo was completed in 1757. In the Rococo style, the suggestion of opolence and the use of "noble" materials prevailed using fake paintings. The walls and ceilings were covered with wooden panels and canvas on wood, faking marbles. The altarpiece of the chancel represents Nª Srª da Conceição, designed by André Gonçalves (1687-1762) and was completed in 1752. Its authorship is also the panels of both side altars representing S.Francisco de Paula and the prison of S. Pedro and S.Paulo, the first of which was later replaced by a painting by Pedro Alexandrino de Carvalho (1730-1810).
