The Caniçada reservoir, with its wonderful landscape view, is the entry card for those visiting the Peneda Gerês National Park. Here, several roads cross, used by visitors, some on pilgrimage to S. Bento da Porta Aberta, others to spend an "aquatic" day in this immense water level cut by small basins and peninsulas, always framed by pine and oak trees. The climb up the valley of the Gerês River is the point of greatest demand, since the landscape that surrounds it is one of the most spectacular. The final route, between Portela de Leonte and the border with Galicia, the so-called Mata de Albergaria is the peak sought by immense visitors.
