Al límite oriente del Centro Histórico de Morelia se localiza una plaza dedicada al Héroe de la Independencia Nacional, José María Morelos y Pavón, personaje originario de la antigua Valladolid, hoy Morelia. La gran explanada colinda con la Calzada Fray Antonio de San Miguel, el Santuario de Guadalupe, el Acueducto, el Jardín Azteca y la Facultad de Derecho.
