Puente Arroyo La Angostura
South America
Circuito Chico, located in San Carlos de Bariloche, Río Negro Province, Argentina, is an iconic and attractive tourist destination that is part of the famous "Circuito Chico" or "Small Circuit." This scenic route starts from Bariloche, bordering the beautiful Nahuel Huapi Lake, and offers breathtaking views of the Patagonian landscapes throughout the year. Along the Circuito Chico route, visitors can enjoy several highlights, such as Playa Bonita at km 8 and the base of Cerro Campanario at km 10, where travelers can take a chairlift to reach the summit at 1,050 meters above sea level. From the top of Cerro Campanario, one can contemplate one of the most beautiful and mesmerizing views in the region, with panoramic vistas of Nahuel Huapi and Perito Moreno Lakes, Laguna El Trébol, San Pedro and Llao Llao Peninsulas, and Victoria Island. In Llao Llao Peninsula, the architectural gem, Capilla San Eduardo, can be found, and the important Puerto Pañuelo is located on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi at km 25. Along the journey, the Angostura Bridge crosses the river of the same name, connecting Moreno Lake with Llao Llao Peninsula. Then, the route continues with a bridge crossing the narrowest point of Lake Moreno. The circuit concludes by skirting Laguna El Trébol before returning to the city. Circuito Chico offers various options to enjoy the region's nature and culture. In spring, the landscape is adorned with yellow broom bushes in full bloom; in summer, one can relish in the beaches such as Playa Bonita, Playa Serena, Villa Tacul, Angostura Stream, and Lake Moreno, perfect for fishing and water sports. Autumn showcases golden poplars and the reddish hues of lenga forests, while winter reveals the snow-capped splendor of Millaqueo, Capilla, López, Tronador, Catedral, Ventana, and Otto Mountains, contrasting against the blue sky. The Circuito Chico is a route to be enjoyed and experienced to the fullest, offering a plethora of activities for all tastes. From walking trails in the woods to mountain trails for hiking, and from beaches and campfires to restaurants and tearooms. All of these make Circuito Chico a typical postcard of Bariloche, a city that attracts millions of tourists each year and captivates with its stunning lakes and mountains of Patagonia. Undoubtedly, an unforgettable destination to explore and discover the natural beauty of Argentina.

More About South America

South America makes up the southern half of the Americas and a large part of Latin America. It's home to the world's longest mountain range, biggest waterfall and largest river -- even these mammoths pale in comparison to the stunning variety of life forms thriving in the rainforest. To the northwest, off the coast of Ecuador, lie the Galapagos Islands, which are unique for hosting species not found anywhere else on earth. These were the subject of study for Charles Darwin in his theory of evolution, which he himself said will require proof in every single case. The main languages in South America are Spanish and Portugese, which basically tells you which European countries colonized the place. The South American wars of independence took place over two decades in the early 19th century, led by Simon Bolivar of Venezuela and Jose san Martin of Argentina. Following liberation from Portugal and Spain, South America took off into its own development, capitalizing on the rich deposits of oil, gold, copper, silver and tango musicians. Brazil is the largest country in South America and home to one of the world's best parties, Carnaval. Have you heard of samba music? How about bossa nova? Maybe dancing for three days straight? I can't say enough good things about South America. All the world's continents have amazing secrets and treasures laying in wait for your discovery, but in South America... just have a look at our pictures while you're waiting for online confirmation of your plane tickets to hit your inbox.Text by Steve Smith.
