Wikipedia

Every five years Sail Bremerhaven is held, a large sailing convention that attracts tall ships from all over the world."

Götheborg is a sailing replica of an 18th century Swedish East Indiaman, a wooden sailing vessel. The original sank off Gothenburg, Sweden on 12 September 1745 while approaching its home harbour after returning from her third voyage to China. All sailors survived, but the ship was lost.

When the wreckage of the vessel Götheborg was found in 1984, the idea emerged of making a replica of the vessel. The keel for the replica was laid on 11 June 1995. The vessel was built using traditional means, and is as close to the original as possible.

The vessel was launched 6 June 2003 with great festivities, and the Swedish Royal Family were represented. Ten tons of hemp ropes were to be used in rigging the vessel, together with some 1,000 blocks and 1,800 m² linen sail, all produced as in the 18th century. The first trial under sail was 18 April 2005."

Wikipedia "Bremerhaven  is the seaport of the free city and federal state of Bremen, Germany. It forms an enclave in the state of Lower Saxony and is located at the mouth of the River Weser on its eastern bank, opposite the town of Nordenham. Though a relatively new city, it has a long history as a trade port and today is one of the most important German ports, playing a crucial role in Germany's trade."
