20 Temmuz 1974 tarihinde icra edilen "KIBRIS BARIŞ HAREKATI" sırasında ganimet olarak ele geçirilence Şehit Teğmen Caner GÖNYELİ adı verilen gemi Türk Silahlı Kuvvetleri bünyesinde 8 Nisan 1976 - 12 Temmuz 1996 tarihleri arasında karakol botu olarak görev yapmıştır. Geminin ismi KIBRIS BARIŞ HAREKATI esnasında 21 Temmuz 1974 tarihinde batan TCG Kocatepe'de şehit olan Teğmen Caner GÖNYELİ'nin anısına verilmiştir. Modern civilization began right here in the Tigris-Euphrates river valley.
