A 100' aerial view overlooking the Cowhorn Valley east of Big Pine, California.  Here one can see large circular scabs of thistle plants w/ dried dead interiors.  I noticed the circular symmetry from ground level as I was hiking out to investigate a sinkhole & I knew I had to get an aerial view.  Look directly below to see me & my shadow for scale.  There is a formation known as fairy circles, bare circles void of vegetation that are found in Southern Africa & Western Australia due to a type of termite.  In satellite imagery of the Cowhorn Valley, there does appear to be scattered barren circles in this exact area - perhaps these are a similar formation.
