Melling gravüründe kıyıda görünen Tophane Kışlası bugün yoktur. 1823'de Firuz Ağa Yangını'nda kışlalar yanmış, sonra yenilenmiştir. Bu yenileme sırasında Nusretiye Camisi de yapılmıştır. Tophane'deki eski askeri yapılardan en son ortadan kalkan, 1958'de yol genişletmesi nedeniyle, eski müşirlik binası ve Salı Pazarı'na dek uzanan sanayi kışlasıdır. Kışlalar sahasında bugün sadece 1848 tarihli saat kulesi ve Mecidiye Kasrı (1848-1849) kalmıştır. Tophane binası bugün Mimar Sinan Güzel Sanatlar Üniversitesi Kültür Merkezi olarak kullanılmaktadır. Her yıl mart ayının ilk haftası okulun kuruluş yıl dönümü kutlamaları çerçevesinde geleneksel kıyafet balosuna da ev sahipliği yapmaktadır. Şu anda da nargilecileri ve Amerikan pazarıyla her gün birçok kişinin buraya uğramasını sağlamaktadır. Zeytinburnu-Eminönü tramvay hattının Kabataş'a kadar uzatılmasıyla beraber Tophane'de de bir durak açılmıştır.Tophane, İstanbul'un Beyoğlu ilçesinde, Boğaz kıyısında bir semttir. Osmanlı döneminde İstanbul'un en eski sanayi bölgesidir. Tophane Binası olan Tophane-i Amire, Fatih Sultan Mehmet zamanında top dökümü için inşa edilmiştir.

It is located on the Bosphorus Strait and encompasses the natural harbor known as the Golden Horn, in the northwest of the country.
