Tralee - Trá Lí - The Rose of Tralee
Ireland
Tralee is famous for its Rose of Tralee International Festival which is held every August since 1959. The title of the festivals refers to ballad of the 19th century. From all the counties of Ireland and from some of the Irish communities all over the world a young woman is elected as “Rose”. On the Rose of Tralee festival one of those ladies is selected and crowned as the International Rose of Tralee. There is a monument showing the Rose of Tralee and the names of the contestants of the festivals.
