Lake Smeraldo is found in Fondo, in the Upper Val di Non, and boasts a surface of 10 thousand square meters. This artificial lake was introduced into the local Alpine landscape - endowing it with an extra touch of elegance and beauty - when it was created in 1964 by damming the flow of the Fondo stream. Today, the lake is pride and joy of the whole community and boasts a small beach where visitors can relax in the sun or refresh themselves in its waters. www.visittrentino.it

Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol consists of two provinces: Trento and Bolzano-Bozen. The region was part of Austria-Hungary (and its predecessor, the Austrian Empire) from 1815 until its annexation by Italy in 1919. Together with the Austrian state of Tyrol it is represented by the Euroregion Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentino.
