Viana do Castelo, Church of Sao Domingos, main chapel

Crib-shaped ceiling, painted: The Virgin Mary giving the rosary to S. Domingos. On the walls, covered with polychrome tiles forming geometric compositions, there were two paintings of biblical inspiration: Procession of the Body of God and Institution of the Holy Eucharist. The main altarpiece is the most important in Viana, exemplary in Baroque style, representative of the 1st cycle "National Style", but obeying the most accurate conception, from the beginning of the century. XVIII, in the middle of D.DJoão V: arrangement of the spiral columns, diagonally extending spirals through the archivolts of the closure, creating the volumetry of a triumphal arch. The traditional ornaments (shoots, bunches of grapes and especially the little angels). The Joanino style is already visible with the allegorical figures in the corbels, the tabernacle of great sculptural wealth guarded by a canopy with Joanine pelmet. On the left side there is the image of S. Francisco and S. Domingos on the right side
