View of the port of Koper - the only seaside port in Slovenia. The nearest part has recently been renovated and adapted to enable the docking of large passenger cruise ships. Left of the port is a small marina; also the top part of the church bell tower can be seen opposite the port.

The peninsula is located at the head of the Adriatic between the Gulf of Trieste and the Bay of Kvarner. It is shared by three countries: Croatia, Slovenia and Italy.
