La Basílica de Santa Lucía del Trampal está situada muy cerca del Manantial del Trampal, del que ha heredado el nombre. Se trata de un hermoso paraje situado en la falda de la sierra del Centinela, dentro del término municipal de Alcuéscar. Este lugar se encuentra a unos cuatro kilómetros del camino de origen romano al que hoy denominamos "Vía de la Plata" y que recorre Extremadura de Norte a Sur. Algunos entendidos han apuntado la posibilidad de que antiguamente existiera un ramal que llegara hasta la población de Trujillo pasando por la zona del Trampal o no muy lejos de ella.
Se calcula que fue construida a mediados del siglo VII y es sin duda uno de los mejores exponentes de la arquitectura hispanovisigoda de toda la Península Ibérica.fuente: http://www.elgranviajero.com/articulos_y_especiales/extremadura/montanchez/basilica_alcuescar.php
