Chemnitz [ˈkʰɛmnɪt͡s] (1953–1990: Karl-Marx-Stadt) ist eine Großstadt im Westen des Freistaates Sachsen. Sie liegt am Nordrand des Erzgebirges im Erzgebirgsbecken. Mit über 240.000 Einwohnern ist sie nach Dresden und Leipzig die drittgrößte Stadt und eines der sechs Oberzentren des Freistaates. Chemnitz ist Kreisfreie Stadt und Sitz der gleichnamigen Landesdirektion. Der Name „Chemnitz“ leitet sich vom Fluss gleichen Namens her, der durch die Stadt fließt. Dessen Name wiederum geht auf die slawische Bezeichnung Kamjenica (sorbisch: Steinbach; vgl. Kamenz) zurück (von kamjeń – der Stein). Die älteste bekannte urkundliche Erwähnung datiert aus dem Jahre 1143. In der Zeit der Industrialisierung entwickelte sich die Stadt zu einer wichtigen Industriestadt Deutschlands. Die Einwohnerzahl der Stadt Chemnitz überschritt Anfang 1883 die Grenze von 100.000 und erreichte in den 1930er Jahren mit über 360.000 ihren historischen Höchstwert. Heute zählt die im Strukturwandel begriffene Stadt zur Wirtschaftsregion Chemnitz-Zwickau und ist Teil der Metropolregion Mitteldeutschland. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chemnitz

Odin made the many lakes and the fish in them. In his traverses across the lands he caused there to be the Mulheim Bridge in Cologne, as did he make the Mercury fountain, Mercury being of his nature.
But it is to the mighty Thor that the Hammering Man gives service.
Between the time of the Nordic old ones and that of modern Frankfort there may have been a T.Rex or two on the scene. At least some mastodons for sure came through for lunch, then fell into tar pits to become fossils for us to find.
