Wewuying Center for the Arts
Kaohsiung

Weiwuying used to be a military area. In 1979, the government announced it would cease to be such and in 2003, it was officially defined as a park reserve. Now, Weiwuying Center for the Arts is positioned as the southern National Theatre and Concert Hall. Dutch architect Francine Houb adopted architectural concepts that fuse geomorphology, organic ideas, and smooth architectural lines, offering people a poetic imagination. Through open space, a green corridor, and the integration of the base itself, the Center for the Arts and the Metropolitan Park have become a subject for art and culture in southern Taiwan.
