После взятия Казани в 1552 году войсками Ивана Грозного бывщая столица Казанского ханства становится административным и военным центром присоединенного Поволжья (1552-1708 гг). С 1708 года Кремль - центр Казанской губернии. В настоящее время наклон башни Сююмбеки составляет 1,8 м.
