Inside the Founders' Grove along the Avenue of the Giants, within Humboldt Redwoods State Park. The grove is just east of the Avenue, south of the historic town of Dyerville at the confluence of the south and main fork of the Eel River.
This panorama was shot next to the Dyerville Giant, which was the tallest redwood ever measured at the time it fell in 1991, when another falling redwood knocked it over in a storm.
The Dyerville Giant measured 362 ft tall, 17 ft diameter, 52 ft circumference and was older than 1,600 years at the time it fell. Note how the shattered remains of the trunk can be seen on the forest floor.
