Gray's Lake, a filled in old quarry, offers kayaking, fishing, and hiking/running around its paved trail. With a view of downtown Des Moines, yet across from the expansive Water Works Park, it offers a great social gathering and exercise place. The trail also connects directly to over 200 miles of a trail system in the city and rural areas of central Iowa.
