Kolob Canyons is part of Zion National Park in southern Utah. It cannot be approached from the main Park area, except for a long drive, one hours, 42 mile drive outside of the Park itself. There is a 5 mile scenic drive in the Kolob Canyons section of the Park with numerous pull-outs for vehicles. Over 207 different varieties of birds fly through Zion National Park every year, making it very attractive to birders from around the world. The main attraction of the Kolob Canyons is the spectacular sandstone cliffs and narrow canyons called “finger canyons” that make up the area. The Kolob Canyons section is highly accessible with the entrance to this part of the Park on Interstate 15. The largest free-standing rock arch in the world is located in this section of Zion National Park. It is appropriately called Kolob Arch. There are a number of hikes in area.
