The Plaza de Constitucion is the central square to the village of Jimena de la Frontera, one of the more attractive " white villages " in the south of Spain. The towns folk also know the Plaza as El Paseo , and is generally used as a meeting point and for the staging of films, musical,theatrical, and other such events throughout the year. The central feature is the remains of the tower of the Church of Santa Maria de La Coronada, the rest being demolished soon after the second world war. The backdrop to the village are the ruined remains of Jimena castle dating back to the Roman times, from where there are stunning views across the countryside towards Casares and Gibraltar.
