Monastery of Vilar de Frades, Choir, Barcelos
Portugal

The high choir was constructed between 1634-24 and the wooden floorboard and coatings in 1682, by the hand of the disclosure António João Padilha, from the port. The high choir name advises the fact that it is closer to the sky, the Divine. The prayers of the friars as the biblical readings were made here. The high choir is a space that is above the other parts of the Church. It was a place of meeting and prayer, of spiritual elevation, hence the symbolic significance of space; High choir because it is closer to the sky. This space follows the reformulation of the church's body. XVII. The contract of the Woodwork was precise and asked for a cadheral equal to that of the Monastery of Serra do Pilar in Vila Nova de Gaia, and the reading book equal to that of the neighbor monastery of Tibães
