Portencross Castle, West Kilbride
Scotland

Portencross Castle is a 14th century fortified tower house strategically situated on the shoreline at the entrance to the Upper Clyde. It was built around 1360 by Sir Robert Boyd, a loyal supporter of Robert the Bruce during the Wars of Scottish Independence, and occupied until the 18th century. The crumbling structure underwent major renovation in 2009/10.
