Temple of the Masks, or simply Temple II stands at 38m and is accessed by a wooden staircase on the right side of the structure. In honour of his wife, the temple was built by the Tikal King Jasaw Chan K'awiil I circa 8th century AD whose legacy is commemorated across the Gran Plaza with Temple I(47m), also known as the Temple of the Great Jaguar. On the left here is the North Acropolis and the right is the Central Acropolis.
