在老崩山之外口，淡金公路經此，形成聚落。由於此地常有大山崩的情形發生，所以稱為老崩山。

在崩山口右側高崗上，為一草埔地，民國七十三年老梅淩虛宮天上聖母在此舉行「過火」儀式。在崩山口左側，昔日平埔族社址所在。
