儿童公园位于长春市中心，体育馆与牡丹园对面。占地面积约为50万平方米。内有湖泊和亭阁，绿树成荫，每年春季杏花盛开的季节，花团锦簇，分外妖娆，院内有一处花卉暖房，每逢新春都有迎春画展，每逢十一都有金秋菊展，深受市民们的喜爱。
园内专门开辟的儿童活动区内设有儿童游艺机、空中转椅、宇航汽车、空中脚踏车等娱乐设施。模拟中国工农红军二万五千里长征设计的小型"长征园"，能使孩子们了解长征过雪山、草地的情景。园内数芳园百花厅为花卉展出大厅，四季展出盛开的百花，尤以君子兰展最为著名。还建有牡丹亭、六角瞻亭、空中转亭、木榭长廊、金鱼展览廊、休息廊、音乐茶座、旱冰场、游船、假山等。
虽然公园的名字叫“儿童公园”，但是，这里却是老年活动的主要场所，在公园正门入口处的里面，每天都集聚大量的老年人在这里侃谈国内外大事和时局，还有专门唱歌的场地，任你一展歌喉。还有专门演唱京剧的小团体等，是一个非常热闹的休闲场所。
