Out of this World

With its rover named Curiosity, Mars Science Laboratory mission is part of NASA's Mars Exploration Program, a long-term effort of robotic exploration of the red planet. Curiosity was designed to assess whether Mars ever had an environment able to support small life forms called microbes. In other words, its mission is to determine the planet's "habitability."

There is WAY more than A ufo going on here. Just look a little closer. Remember what rocks and mountains are SUPPOSED to look like. Even on mars, they should be pretty similar to, say, the grand canyon. Zoom in.

increible, pero imagino que en persona seria muy interesante

Thats funny when i was on here a few month back I pointed out that you could see the underneath of the Rover and asked how this could be posable, I see they have fixed their F$%k up
  • jesse 11 months ago
or... the rover could have driven up to that point and the tracks are behind the image you are looking at.

You don't see any wheel marks because it's day 2, and Curiosity spent like the first week sitting in the same spot it landed just inspecting all the instruments to make sure nothing got damaged during the landing.
  • jose garmendia 11 months ago
I like curiosity rover is very clean, but I dont see trashes of wheels.
  • Timothy Baldwin 12 months ago
This panorama was taken from the landing site before the rover drove away.
  • nadako about 1 year ago
Yup you can thank the government shutdown for that.
  • GOD over 1 year ago
no , if the rover was on the same spot for a period of time considerable enough to wash away tread marks with constantly blowing dust.

These tires should leave a track in the underground. But I can't see one. Weird, isn't it?

É bom urgenciar essa "habitabilidade" de Marte, pois, como diz o Chico Buarque, "aqui na terra tão jogando futebol... mas o que eu quero é te dizer que a coisa aqui tá preta."
  • Afrodita Padilla almost 2 years ago
crazy... cool. I bet if they found a ufo their not going to show us.

More About Out of this World

The planet Earth has proven to be too limiting for our awesome community of panorama photographers. We're getting an increasing number of submissions that depict locations either not on Earth (like Mars, the Moon, and Outer Space in general) or do not realistically represent a geographic location on Earth (either because they have too many special effects or are computer generated) and hence don't strictly qualify for our Panoramic World project. But many of these panoramas are extremely beautiful or popular of both. So, in order to accommodate our esteemed photographers and the huge audience that they attract to 360Cities with their panoramas, we've created a new section (we call it an "area") called "Out of this World" for panoramas like these.Don't let the fact that these panoramas are being placed at the Earth's South Pole fool you - we had to put them somewhere in order not to interfere with our Panoramic World.Welcome aboard on a journey "Out of this World".
