Epiphany in the waters of Meschersky pond

It is an old Russian tradition - on the day of Epiphany you dip in the ice cold waters of lake or river, through a cross-shaped hole in the ice.
All precautions were taken: the paramedics were ready, divers wearing dry neoprene suits were standing near the ice-hole - but none of them came into play.
