The Sand Springs Pony Express Station is located in view of Sand Mountain Recreation Area east of Fallon, Nevada. It is listed on the national register of historic places with the existing ruins dating back to 1860, blanketed of course in sand. Sand Springs is a small spring that is located nearby to the south.
