Fort Anioła - Świnoujście
Poland

Museum of military architecture. Built between 1854-1858, during the reign of King Frederick William IV as a gun - Fortress Świnoujście observation (it accounted for four forts).

The three-story buildings with ground-floor resident infantry small arms and the floors were used for light field artillery. Guns and ammunition were transported up by ropes through oval holes in the ceiling.

During World War II, rebuilt and equipped with all the technological advances Fort Angel (electricity, heating, radar, radio stations, telegraph, telephone) ł fully the role of air observation post for the German forces. After the war, Fort captured by the Russians until 1992 was the point of air surveillance and communications with the Soviet Navy ships.

Today, the property is renovated and serves as not only a museum but has become a cultural institution Świnoujście. Here you can live encounter with the history of three epochs: Prussian, German and Soviet. You can also watch exhibitions of contemporary painting, photography, sculpture. The fort held music concerts, poets meet on the evenings of poetry, folklore medieval knights fighting. There are also bonfires, barbecues, by candlelight, you can enjoy tea, coffee, wines and meads in the original fireplace room. The name is connected with the fort's shape which is Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome.
