Gillson Park - Wilmette Beach - Lake Michigan - 9

Ok, here's the deal. The beach at Gillson park is immaculate and very lovely. There is not a speck of trash anywhere. The insane property taxes in this extraordinarily wealthy town very clearly go somewhere. Still, paying $50 to go to a beach (3 adults, 2 kids) is, well, objectionable. If you object to this, and you want to swim, here is what you have to do: Go to the non-swimming side BEFORE 10am. You can then sneak onto the swimming side and have a dip. You can go back to the non-swimming side when you're done, but at that point it will be a one-way ticket, so don't leave anything behind.

The United States is one of the most diverse countries on earth, jam packed full of amazing sights from St. Patrick's cathedral in New York to Mount Hollywood California.The Northeast region is where it all started. Thirteen British colonies fought the American Revolution from here and won their independence in the first successful colonial rebellion in history. Take a look at these rolling hills carpeted with foliage along the Hudson river here, north of New York City.The American south is known for its polite people and slow pace of life. That is to say, the West Coast functions as the imagination of the US, like a weird little brother who teases everybody then gets famous for making freaky art.The central part of the country is flat farmland all the way over to the Rocky Mountains.
