The George W. Kuhn Drainage District collects combined sanitary and stormwater flow from many square miles of Detroit’s northern suburbs where millions of people live and work. During dry weather, all sanitary flow is routed to the Detroit Wastewater Treatment Plant. During wet weather, when inflows exceed the system outlet capacity to the Detroit system, the combined flow is diverted into the George W. Kuhn Retention Treatment Basin (GWK RTB). Designed to handle incoming flow up to 3 million gallons per minute, the GWK RTB can store up to 124 million gallons until inflows subside and capacity is again available in the Detroit system. All flow that enters the RTB receives treatment via settling, screening, and disinfection. If the storage capacity is exceeded, the treated flow discharges to the Red Run Drain.
All flow is screened to remove debris. The number and size of the screens at GWK make it one of the largest screening facilities in North America. The screen building has sixteen fine screens and four emergency screens. Debris that is collected on the screens is discharged to a sluicing trough that flushes to the Detroit collection system for treatment. Two auxiliary screens protect the dewatering pumps by removing large objects from the sluicing trough.

California is full of nothing but grizzly old miners digging for gold, a few gangster rappers, and then actors. That is to say, the West Coast functions as the imagination of the US, like a weird little brother who teases everybody then gets famous for making freaky art.The central part of the country is flat farmland all the way over to the Rocky Mountains.
