Jericho, Little Sahara Recreation Area, Utah, USA
Utah

The Little Sahara Recreation Area encompasses one of the largest dune fields (124 square miles) in Utah and serves primarily as a playground for OHV (off highway vehicle) fans. Visit in the summer and you'll find the air buzzing with the sounds of hundreds of OHVs zipping around the dunes. Visit from late fall to early spring and you may find you have the place to yourself. For kids, it's like the biggest sandbox in the world.

There are several areas set aside within the recreation area for exploration by foot, safely fenced away from the OHV areas. The Jericho (shown here) and White Sands areas are accessible by road within the park. A much larger (9000 acres) OHV free area, named the Rockwell Outstanding Natural Area, is located at the west edge of the park and accessed by non-paved roads.
