The Peter and Paul's temple erected by diligence of many people on October, 11 th, 2009 was consecrated by Cyril, the Holy Patriarch of Moscow and the whole Russia. Pleasure of this day memorable for Sestroretsk shared with the citizens the Deputy head of Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation Alexander Beglov, the spouse of the President of Russia Svetlana Medvedeva and the governor of Saint-Petersburg Valentina Matvienko.
Sestroretsk is the part of 11 municipal formations of Kurortnyj area of Saint-Petersburg and it is the largest settlement among them – there are about 40 thousand of persons living in it. But in summer months the quantity of Sestroretsk citizens increases greatly as well as in the settlements building this municipal formation: Kurort, Razliv, Tarhovka, Aleksandrovskaya and Gorskaya settlements. Thousands of people come here to get treatment and rest. They are attracted not only by a salubrious climate, but also by a picturesque landscape, cleanliness and well-groomed yards and clean streets, developed infrastructure and close location to Saint-Petersburg.

Moscow has been the capital of Russia for almost its entire history. The exception is during the period of the Russian Empire, which lasted from 1721 until the Russian Revolution 1917. For these two centuries the capital was St. Petersburg. The Russian Empire was the second largest contiguous Empire in world memory; only the Mongol Empire had been greater.

After the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991, Russia became a federal republic of 83 states.
