Alaadin Tepesi
Alaeddin Tepesi Konya Selçuklularin baskenti iken Sultan Alaeddin bir cami yaptirmak istedi, bunun için sehrin meclisi sehrin ortasinda bir tepe meydana getirilmesinin ve bu tepenin üzerine camiin yapilmasini kararlastirdi. Bu maksatla bir toprak vergisi kondu. Herkesin hissesine düsen topragi çuval ve torbalarla getirmesi suretiyle meydana geldi. Camiin insasina baslandi. Bir gün Sultan Alaeddin tepeye çikti ve sehir halkinin evlerinin damlarinda yari çiplak yattiklarini gördü. Bunun üzerine tepeye yalniz camiinin yapilmasini, sarayin ise tepenin eteklerine insasini istedi.

Modern civilization began right here in the Tigris-Euphrates river valley. In fact, the Renaissance in Europe was partly inspired by stories brought back from the middle east by travelers along the trade route.Strategic location, religious history and the world's largest supply of crude oil have kept the Middle East at the center of world activity for centuries.
