Worbis | Eichsfeld - Antoniuskirche auch Klosterkirche

Antoniuskirche to Worbis, taken up in December 2010

The monastic church belonged to the monastery of the Franziskaner, which came 1667 to Worbis. On the area 1525 destroyed Cistercian interior monastery established it first a small wooden chapel and called them " Antonius Residenz". On 13 June 1668, the foundation-stone for the monastery and the monastic church was put to the anniversary of the holy Antonius. 1765 took place the change of the monastic church, for which from it one of the most beautiful and style-fullest baroque churches of the whole calibration field made.

After the secularization by Prussia 1824 the monastery were waived. The monastic church is used today by the catholic church municipality and is considered as supraregional meaning place of pilgrimage. By the gates of the Antoniuskapelle one can enter the place of worship. The powerful resounds the church ship from a curved cover without columns is spanned. One can let beautiful pictures and life-large holy figures of the magnificent high altar as well as the ornate decorations of the Nebenaltäre affect itself. In the church ship the pulpit binds the view.
