Brixen/Bressanone cathedral // cloister
South Tyrol (Bolzano-Bozen)

Der Brixner Kreuzgang ist ein mittelalterlicher Kreuzgang (quadratisch im Grundriss), im Mittelalter unter mehreren Bischöfen angelegt und erweitert. Er grenzt nördlich direkt an den Dom von Brixen; in der Mitte befindet sich ein kleiner Garten (Innenhof). Die Wände und Gewölbe des Kreuzganges sind mit Fresken des 14. und 15. Jahrhunderts, die religiöse Motive darstellen, bemalt. Die Fresken wurden in den letzten Jahren mehrfach restauriert. Ursprünglich war er als Begräbnisort sowie als Stätte der Meditation für Priester und Ordensleute gedacht. Heute ist er als bedeutende Sehenswürdigkeit dem Publikum zugänglich. Er bleibt jedoch weiterhin auch ein Ort der Entspannung und Meditation.
