The VAMVAKOU is settlement, situated on the north end of Laconia, at an altitude of 900 meters on the western slopes of Mount Parnonas. Previously recommended namesake community to which he belonged and the village MEGALI VRISI, located about two kilometers southwest on the road to Vresthena,and today's municipal district of Oinountos. Within the municipal district Vamvakou owns the western half of the highest peak Parnonas (Great Tourla, alt. 1935m.) And the northwestern edge of the village passes Oinountas River, a tributary of the EVROTAS RIVER.
