Paul Bunyan's Woodpile, Juab County, Utah
Utah

Paul Bunyan's Woodpile is a rare geologic curiosity in Juab County, Utah. This rock formation was formed about 30 million years ago when magma cooled down. These columns are between 10 and 15 feet long and about 1 foot in diameter. The whole formation looks like a huge stack of wood logs.

Interesting to notice that the South-East side is far more decomposed than the North-West side, probably by higher differences in temperature and growth of lichens.

John A. Roberts (standing at his tripod) and Calvin Jones (sitting) and I spent a great day at this interesting place taking quite a number of panoramas. We created probably  a spot of 'high pano density' ;-)
